Virus activity typically ramps up in the fall and winter months, though it has been an active viral season already starting in the summer months. There are many factors that contribute to this phenomenon of increased viral activity in the winter months. It can be attributed to the decrease in sunlight (vitamin D), a massive increase in sugar intake for the holidays, cozy baked goods, and increased stress during the holiday season. All of the above disrupts our immune systems.
Western medicine will address viruses with medicine to simply mask symptoms, but will not educate you on support your body with the nutrients it needs to fight the virus and it’s co-infections. Our bodies do know how to fight viruses if you give them the tools they need to do so. One simple example of these tools would be zinc. It interrupts many viruses from replicating. When you don’t know what else to do, at least take zinc!
Of course it would be ideal to test you to see exactly what your body needs, but these are amazing tools to have in your cabinet for when your body does need extra support.
